mason_logoDo you remember the cinderela team that made it to the final four in 2006?  That team was the basketball team from George Mason University and that trip to the final four got them a lot of national attention.  Well,  George Mason once again is getting national attention and it has somewhat to do with what happen on the basketball court.  At a recent George Mason Basketball game Ryan Allen or should I say Reann Ballslee was announced as the schools homecoming Queen.  Reann Ballslee is Ryan’s drag Queen persona.  Now don’t get me wrong I am 100% for gay rights.  I think that people should have the choice to do whatever they would like as long as it is not effecting others in a negative way.  However, I think that GMU has gone a little far with this one.  If I was a 13 year old kid attending the basketball game I might be a little confused as to why a male was announced as homecoming Queen.  I understand that schools want to show they are diverse and except gay rights but male is male and female is female.

I do think that schools should be able to show they support gay right however, I just feel that their are a lot of better ways to show it.
